We are pleased to announce that the Shady Grove Radiation Medicine Facility, previously managed by Georgetown Hospital/Medstar, is now an independently owned and managed private practice.  This facility has been serving central Montgomery County for nearly 20 years, and we look forward to continuing to provide quality radiation therapy to this community.

The name of our corporation is Integrated Radiation Oncology at Shady Grove.  This name reflects our belief in the growing need for integration, both within the field of radiation oncology, and with the surrounding medical community. 

In the first case, emerging technology holds great promise for our patients, but also poses challenges in integrating images, information, physics support, therapy administration, and quality assurance.  It is an often under appreciated aspect of Radiation Oncology that safe and effective treatments require dedicated professionals from all aspects of the field.  In this light, we have created our corporation with two Radiation Oncologists, a Physicist, and a Chief Therapist.  It is our belief that this integration within the ownership of our practice will lead to better patient care. 

In the second case, it is clear that Oncology is multidisciplinary, and it is our pledge to integrate our care closely with the Montgomery County medical community.  Advances in radiation technology are only a part of the cancer puzzle.  Advances in medical and surgical oncology are also of the utmost importance.  The biggest gains in patient care lie in the integration of oncology care among all involved.

We are embarking on a modernization program and plan on having state of the art technology to complement our organizational and professional structures.  Be assured your patients will continue to receive high quality treatment during this transition period.
